On behalf of our Client, we are seeking a Paralegal to join their team.

The Paralegal is responsible for handling legal work delegated by the Partner, Counsel, Senior Associate and/or Associate.

The Paralegal assists attorneys in the Corporate Department in all aspects of preparatory work and provide general departmental administrative assistance. The Paralegal also assists attorneys in the Corporate Department with special projects as required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Providing strong support on any project as required including all aspects of due diligence and data room preparation, organisation and investigation, research, company and group assessments, matter analysis and preparation of check lists, time lines and document indices
• Drafting documents including client engagement letters, transaction overviews and summaries, initial draft opinions, minutes and resolutions, notices, step plans and deal summaries
• Assist attorneys in the Corporate Department with special projects as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
• An Associate-level qualification from the Institute of Legal Executives (“ILEX”) or equivalent or be actively pursuing a relevant ILEX designation
• A minimum of 3 years’ law firm experience
• “Hands on” litigation/dispute resolution experience and proven responsibility for own work is preferred
• The ability to recognise and prioritise urgent matters, as well as possess the ability to consistently produce high quality work under pressure
• A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically MS Word and MS Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (i.e. a thorough command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation)
• The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients, attorneys and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters
• Must possess a pleasing and pleasant personality, a professional attitude and approach, including the ability to work independently, exercising judgement and initiative
• Sound organisational skills. These skills will be required in order to organise case files and provide case planning and analysis, to establish and maintain effective filing systems, reminder systems, record-keeping procedures and in arranging daily appointments.
• Knowledge of court rules, legal terminology and legal practices
• A practical understanding of the firm’s procedures, equipment and computer systems so as to efficiently meet the client and attorney demands
