Ascot Re (“A” rated by A.M. Best) underwrites multi-class reinsurance solutions for a diverse range of clients. Our team is expanding and we are seeking a commercially-oriented Controller to support Ascot’s growth and strategic initiatives.

The Financial Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and have responsibility for a wide range of financial and management reporting requirements for both Ascot Group Ltd. and Ascot Re. The successful applicant will be highly motivated, technically inclined and have excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to deliver results within high-pressure environments. You must be willing to work considerable overtime, including weekends and public holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Preparing analysis of financial results for communication to CFO, Board of Directors and shareholders on a monthly and quarterly basis;
· Supervising the preparation and performing the review of quarterly and annual external reporting documents;
· Responsible for preparation, review and oversight of corporate consolidation including equity compensation, share capital and earnings per share calculations;
· Monitoring inter-company process including review of intercompany transactions and reconciliation of inter-company balances;
· Supervising the day to day management of corporate finance staff and ensuring adherence to all finance department processes and procedures;
· Maintaining good internal control procedures and compliance with appropriate regulations;
· Managing teams at third party service providers including verifying the completeness and accuracy of financial information provided by these teams;
· Providing extensive support to external and internal auditors;
· Liaising with IT in relation to the formulation and development of a state of the art financial reporting system;
· Other ad-hoc projects as required, including expense management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
· An internationally recognized accounting qualification (CA, ACCA or CPA) and a minimum of 6 years post qualification experience
· Strong technical knowledge and practical experience of working with US GAAP particularly in the areas of complex reinsurance, business acquisitions, stock compensation and foreign currency;
· Experience of working with a Lloyds Managing Agency/Syndicate;
· Strong computer literacy skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with SUN ledger and S2000 underwriting systems would be beneficial
· Proven ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to conclusion through research and management of process; and
· Ability to work under pressure and handle changing priorities in a fast paced dynamic environment
